Super Star Rajinikanth's life history

Super Star Rajinikanth was born on 12th December 1950 (real name Shivaji Rao Gaikwad). Super Star Rajinikanth is an Indian film actor, media personality, and cultural icon.He made his acting debut through the National Film Award-winning Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal in 1975, which as directed by K. Balachander. Super Star Rajinikanth r considers K.Balachander as his mentor. Super Star Rajinikanth has also appeared in the cinemas of other nations, including that of the United States. Super Star Rajinikanth was born and brought up in the city of Bangalore. Rajinikanth's ancestors hailed from a village called Mavdi Kade Pathar which is in present-day Pune District in Maharashtra. Super Star Rajinikanth was the youngest of four siblings in a family consisting of two brothers and a sister, his father Ramoji Rao Gaikwad was a police constable.After his father's retirement from work in 1956, the family moved to the suburb of Hanumanthanagar in Bangalore and built a house there. Rajinikanth had his primary education at the "Gavipuram Government Kannada Model Primary School". Rajinikanth was a studious and "mischievous" child with a great interest in games such as Cricket, Football and Basketball. It was during this time that his brother enrolled him at the Ramakrishna Math a Hindu monastery. Here he learnt the Vedas, tradition and history which eventually instilled a sense of spirituality in him. Along with spiritual lessons he also began acting in plays at the math. His interest towards theatre grew at the math. When the Super Star was eleven years old he lost his mother. After completing sixth Standard the Super Star was enrolled in Acharya Pathasala Public School where he comlpeted his pre-university course.He acted in many plays in the school. During his childhood Super Star Rajinikanth struggled with an impoverished lifestyle. After completion of his school education, Rajinikanth performed various jobs in the cities of Bangalore and Madras (Present day Chennai) including that of a coolie and carpenter and fiinally ended up working for the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation as bus conducter where he began acting in plays. He came to Chennai in 1973 to join the Madras Film Institute to persue a diploma in acting. While he was performing in a stage play in the institue he got noticed by Tamil film director K.Balachander who went on to introduce Rainikath as an actor. Super Star Rajinikanth's mannerisms and his style of dialogue delivery in films contribute to his mass popularity and appeal. After being paid 260 million (US$4.2 million) for his role in the Movie Sivaji (2007), he became the highest paid actor in Asia after Jackie Chan.

Family Life

Super Star Rajinikanth married Latha Rangachari who was then a student of Ethiraj College for Women. The marriage took place on 26th of February 1981 in Tirupath in Andha Pradesh. The couple have two daughters named Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Soundarya Rajinikanth. His wife, Latha Rajinikanth runs a school named "The Ashram". Super Star Rajinikanth's elder daughter, Aishwarya married actor Dhanush on 18 November 2004 and they have two sons named Yathra and Linga. Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya is a film director and is also a director, producer and graphic designer. Soundarya got married to industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar on 3rd of September 2010.

Popularity of Super Star Rajinikanth

Super Star Rajinikanth is considered as the most famous Indian film actor of his time by the media and his popularity with the common man is unmatched. The Super Star's uniquely styled dialogues and idiosyncrasies in films, as well as his political statements and philanthropy has been attributed to his popularity. Rajinikanth's films have  punchlines delivered by him in an inimitable style, and these punchlines often have a message or even to warn the film's antagonists, but do not fail to create a sense of entertainment among viewers. It is often of the understanding that some popular actors who worked with Super Star Rajinikanth earlier in their careers were recognised because of their association with him. Fellow actors even commented and wanted the Super Star to enter politics as Rajinikanth has the potential to be successful due to his popularity and fan base alone. The success of "Muthu" one of his films made even Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh acknowledged the success of it during a visit to Japan in 2006. Another movie Chandramukhi of the Super Star's has been noted for being the longest running Tamil film in India, which played for over 800 days. His other film "Sivaji" has made a name for bein one of the largest releases for an Indian film in the world, the film entered the list of top ten films of the United Kingdom upon release. Rajinikanth is the only Indian actor who has become a chapter in the lesson for the Indian CBSE syllabus titled 'From Bus Conductor to Superstar' under the category Dignity of Work. 
The Super Star's entry to films

Rajinikanth began his film career through the Tamil film Aboorva Raagangal in 1975. It was director  K.Balachander who gave Rajinikanth a role as an abusive husband of Srividya. This film became controversial upon release as it portrayde relationships between people of wide age differences, however this did not prevent the film from winning three National Film Awards. His Next film was Katha Sangama followed by Anthuleni Katha, Aval Oru Thodar Kathai,Moondru Mudichu,Avargal,16 Vayadhinile. All these films portrayed the Super Star in Negative roles. In 1977, he accepted his first-ever lead role in the Telugu film Chilakamma Cheppindi.
Though Rajinikanth always refers to K. Balachander as his mentor,it was S. P. Muthuraman who changed his image. Muthuraman first experimented with him in a positive role in Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri in 1977. When this film became successful it brought the duo together for 24 more films till the 1990s.That year Super Star Rajinikanth played supporting roles in majority of the films with few of them being "villainous" he had 15 of his films released during the year, much higher than the previous years.
A Star's rise to Stardom 

The period from 1990 to 2001 Super Star Rajinikanth established himself as a commercial entertainer and Rajinikanth became a house hold name in Tamilnadu.Most films released during this period were highly successful at the box office. The decade saw him enter with Panakkaran. He also continued to do more films in Bollywoood as he went on to star in Hindi films. The Hindi film Hum was released in 1991 in which he was cast along with Amitabh Bachchan with the second lead role. Super Star Rajinikanth went on to work with director Mani Ratnam in the film Thalapathi along with co-star Mammooty. This film was a story based on the great Epic Mahabharata where it spoke about the freindship between two uknown people. The movie was a great success and was remade in many Indian Languages. His next film Annamalai was released in 1992 which was followed with Mannan. In 1993 Super Star Rajinikanth wrote his first screenplay for the film Valli in which he also made a special appearance. More films poured in namely Yejamaan, Veera in 1994 and in the year 1995 the blockbuster Baasha was released which emerged as a record for the industry. This film elevated him from being just another very popular actor to nearly a demigod status among the masses. The same year, he acted in yet another gangster film, Aatank Hi Aatank with Aamir Khan which is also his last Hindi film in a major role till date. The Super Star's Muthu was another great commercial success and became the first Tamil film to be dubbed into Japanese, as Mutu: Odoru Maharaja. 
The film Muthu grossed a record US$1.6 million in Japan in 1998 and was responsible for creating a large Japanese fan-base for the actor. Muthu's success in Japan made American news magazine Newsweek to comment in a 1999 article that Rajinikanth had replaced Leonardo DiCaprio as Japan's trendiest heartthrob. Rajinikanth also entered Bengali cinema through the film Bhagya Debata
Religion and the Super Star

Rajinikanth is a follower of Hinduism and beleives strongly in spirituality. He enjoys reading books on spirituality. He not only reads but also practices as one should when it comes to spirituality.
The Super Star is a practitioner of yoga and meditation and is known for visiting temples prior to the release of each of his films. Visiting holy places is one of his qualities which shows his spiritual inclination.Thirupathi and Prashanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi are notable for his visits. He is a ardent follower of Ragavendra Swami and has often referred to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Satchidananda,Mahavatar Babaji and Ramana Maharishi as his favourite spiritual gurus.
Rajinikanth is also known to occasionally go on a pilgrimage to the Himalayas and spend days in end meditating in teh serene surroundings of the Himalayas
Rajinikanth's Film Awards and Honours

Rajinikanth has received a number of awards for many of his films mostly in Tamil. In 1984 he received his first Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor for the film Nallavanuku Nallavan. His films Sivaji and Enthiran received Filmfare Award nominations. Rajinikanth received the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in the Best Actor category for his roles in Muthu (1995), Padayappa (1999), Chandramukhi (2005), and Sivaji (2007). Cinema Express and Filmfans' Association have confered numerous awards for his on-screen performances and off-screen contributions in writing and producing. The Government of Tamilnadu conferred the prestigious Kalamamani award in 1984 and the M. G. R. Award in 1989 to Super Star Rajinikanth.
In 1995, Rajinikanth was conferred with the Kalaichelvam Award by the South Indian Film Artistes' Association. He was named and honoured with the Padma Bhushan award, India's third highest civilian honour, in 2000 from the Government of India. NDTV selected Rajinikanth as the Indian Entertainer of the Year for 2007 competing against the likes of Shahrukh Khan, and later was awarded the Entertainer of the Decade Award by NDTV for the year 2010 by the then Indian Minister for Home Affairs P. Chidambaram. NDTV further honoured him as one among the "25 Greatest Global Living Legends" in December 2013.
